Paul Vynar’s Journey in the HVAC Industry: From Ukraine to Vancouver

Paul Vynar, the owner of Precision Air, knows a lot about keeping things running smoothly. His HVAC company, based in Vancouver, Washington, serves both Washington and Oregon. But before he was managing heating and cooling systems, Paul was figuring out how to adjust to life in a new country.
A New Beginning
Paul was born in Ukraine on January 25, 1992. When he was seven, his family moved to the United States and settled in Southington, Connecticut. Moving to a new country as a kid came with challenges. “It was hard at first,” Paul admits. “I didn’t know the language, and everything was different. But my parents worked hard, and we adapted.”
Growing up, Paul spent a lot of time playing sports. Baseball, softball, and football became his favorites. “I like the strategy and teamwork,” he says. “It’s a lot like running a business. You have to plan ahead and work together.”
Building Precision Air
About ten years ago, Paul made another move—this time to Vancouver, Washington. In 2017, he started Precision Air, his own HVAC company. “I wanted to build something of my own,” Paul explains. “I saw an opportunity in HVAC because it’s a service people will always need.”
Precision Air handles everything from installations to repairs, keeping homes and businesses comfortable year-round. For Paul, the key to success is simple: do the job right and treat people well. “If you focus on quality and honesty, the business grows naturally,” he says.
Managing the company takes up most of Paul’s time. “Some days, I’m in the field with my guys. Other days, I’m handling the business side—paperwork, scheduling, making sure everything runs smoothly,” he says.
Investing in Real Estate
Running an HVAC company isn’t Paul’s only venture. He also invests in real estate. “I started with a couple of properties,” he explains. “Real estate seemed like a good way to build something stable for the future.”
Balancing two businesses isn’t easy, but Paul enjoys the challenge. “It keeps things interesting,” he says. “With HVAC, you’re solving problems every day. Real estate is more about long-term planning. I like doing both.”
Family and Hobbies
Outside of work, Paul values time with his family. He has a younger brother and two younger sisters. “We’re pretty close,” he says. “Family is important. They’ve supported me a lot.”
His love for sports hasn’t faded, either. When he isn’t working, Paul enjoys playing and watching baseball and softball. “It’s a good way to clear my head,” he says. “Being outside, focusing on the game—it helps me recharge.”
Paul also enjoys road trips and travel. Exploring new places is a way to break out of routine and get new ideas. “Sometimes a change of scenery is all you need to see things differently,” he explains.
Lessons Learned
Looking back, Paul believes the challenges he faced growing up helped shape his approach to business. “Moving to a new country taught me to adapt,” he says. “Running a business isn’t so different. You have to stay flexible and keep learning.”
His advice for anyone thinking about starting a business is straightforward: “Don’t rush it. Build a good reputation first, even if it takes time. In this industry, word of mouth is everything.”
Paul’s story is about hard work, adaptation, and keeping things simple. He’s built a business on trust and quality service, and he’s not planning to slow down anytime soon. “There’s always more to learn,” he says. “That’s what keeps it interesting.”
