The Best Football Cities In The World For 2019

Arguably the sporting capital of the world, London has been ranked No. 1 on the list of the best football cities in the world for 2019, according to a new study out by the CEOWORLD magazine, Sao Paulo placed second on the list, followed by Buenos Aires at No. 3. What are the best cities in the world for football fans?

You can’t have a rundown of the world’s greatest football cities without mentioning Britain’s capital city – London. The city has a ridiculous population that ranges past 8 million in the Greater London area, and all these people love one thing: their football.

Six of England’s 20 Premier League clubs are located in the city, and you can tour their stadiums, including the homes of Chelsea and Arsenal.

Bill Shankly, one of the football’s greatest managers, once said: “Some people think football is a matter of life and death. I assure you, it’s much more serious than that.” If you think that’s a far-fetched statement, then you’ve never visited these soccer-mad cities. From the iconic clubs of Madrid and London to the wild derbies of Buenos Aires and Istanbul, here’s where every football (or soccer) fan needs to visit.

Well, the folks at the CEOWORLD magazine looked at data, crunched the numbers, and came up with the definitive list of best football cities around the world for Football lovers.

The 2019 rankings placed Madrid in fourth ahead of Rio de Janeiro into fifth; while Milan ranked sixth, and Porto Alegre seventh.

Overall, among the top 10 cities from across the world that are perfect for football fans, the eighth, ninth, and tenth positions are held by Mexico City, Liverpool, and Montevideo.

Barcelona took the No. 11 spot, followed by Manchester (No.12) and Munich (No.13). To identify the best football cities in the world, CEOWORLD magazine reviewed numerous national and international media reports. The report determines the best cities based on 18 metrics, including the number of professional football teams and city size, the division, popularity of the team, and more. More than 312 cities were compared.

Meanwhile, Rome ranked No. 14 in the CEOWORLD magazine’s ranking of the best football cities in the world for 2019. Paris came in fifteenth place, followed by Turin (sixteenth), Athens (seventeenth), Dortmund (eighteenth), and Naples, ranked nineteenth.
