Who would be the next Chairmen of the Federal Reserve – possible candidates?
The Obama administration’s response to the financial crisis, Ben Bernanke second term expires on Jan. 31, 2014 as chairman of the Federal Reserve. No matter who become the next chairman … whatever the outcome of the election — it will have a major impact on monetary policy and therefore on the American and Global economy. Markets are likely to face more uncertainty, not less, over the coming year.
It is unclear whether Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke will go for a third term, A leadership vacuum at Federal Reserve of the world’s biggest economy could unnerve investors.
Here is a list of possible candidates – Who would be the next Chairmen of the Federal Reserve?
1. Timothy Geithner - current United States Secretary of the Treasury, logical next step for him would be Chairmen of the Federal Reserve.
2. Alan Blinder - Professor of Economics and Public Affairs in the Economics Department at Princeton University might become the logical response.
3. Lawrence Summers - served as the United States Secretary of the Treasury from 1999 to 2001 under President Bill Clinton.
4. Janet Yellen - Vice Chair of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System.
5. Tom Hoenig - a director of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation.
6. Greg Mankiw - Professor of Economics at Harvard University, chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers under President George W. Bush.
7. John B. Taylor - Professor of Economics at Stanford University and Senior Fellow in Economics at Stanford University’s Hoover Institution.
8. Glenn Hubbard - currently the Dean of the Columbia University Graduate School of Business
