Best All-In-One Multifunction Printer Scanner Copier Fax Machine

If you need a printer, scanner, copier and fax, the most practical solution is to go with an all-in-one (AIO) printer. Many of the newer models feature both Wired and Wireless connectivity, allowing you to share the printer with others in your home or office.

All in one multifunction copier fax scanner printer is the ideal solution for small and home office. The only drawback with these multifunction machines is their performance, like the old saying goes, jack of all trades master of none.

However, the best all-in-one printers do have certain things in common, so look for these features when you’re shopping: Flatbed scanners with document feeders, Network connectivity or wireless support, Duplexing, The ability to print on non-standard paper, such as envelopes and photo paper.

Canon Pixma MX310

This Dell Printer is a great multifunction machine that fits the bill when it comes to making a home office run smoothly. It’s got a built-in wireless card as well as an Ethernet connection, so you can use it with any computer on your network.

The horizontal, indented Auto-Document Feed (ADF) tray is a nice touch, as is the beautifully simple control panel. For a four-in-one machine like this, a simple number keypad and a total of nine other buttons control all functions of the machine. They work with a 61mm LCD display, which has a well-designed menu and feedback system, including animated instructions for jobs like changing ink cartridges.

Hewlett-Packard’s Photosmart C6180 is hard to beat. An unparalleled black print speed of up to 32 ppm and color speed up to 31, even long jobs are easy! The 4800 x 1200 dpi print resolution puts your digital memories into vivid life. Individual color ink cartridges make wasted ink a thing of the past.

The main input tray holds 100 sheets and there’s an additional 10 x 15cm (6 x 4-inch) photo tray above, which can dispense 20 sheets before you need to reload. If you need it, an optional automatic two-sided printing accessory can be purchased separately and you can scan in transparencies and film.

Canon Pixma MX850

Canon’s PIXMA MX850 is a well designed machine for somebody who needs the full advantages of a multifunction printer, with photo print, CD/DVD direct print, multiple paper sources and full fax facilities. Its only downside is its inexorably slow duplex printing and copying.

PCMag.com’s review is the best of these, and the printer gets an overall rating that can be used to compare it with other tested printers. A review in Macworld is also based on hands-on tests, but the magazine hasn’t tested as many multifunction printers as PCMag.com.

HP Officejet Pro L7680

HP Officejet Pro L7680 is a very compelling all-in-one for small businesses or work groups. The HP OfficeJet Pro L7680’s basic printing and scanning specs are impressive. Its single paper tray holds 250 sheets or 30 envelopes. To increase the printer’s paper capacity, you can add a 350-sheet second tray.

HP Photosmart C8180

The C8180 has no standalone fax capability. It can, however, scan legal-size documents and print photos with HP’s Vivera six-color ink set. And it can also print lined school paper (graph paper, notebook paper, task checklist and music paper) right from the control panel.

In addition to the memory card reader there is also a CD drive for LightScribe enabled discs and even better backing up your photos directly from a memory card on to a CD or DVD without the need for a computer. Supported formats include DVD DVR+R and of course CD.

The machine has a big footprint, particularly when you take in the duplexer sticking out the back, the separate, black block power supply off which it runs, and the extending paper tray at the front, which is rarely pictured open.

Good review of what seems like to be a decent multifunction printer. I have been in the printing business for a long time, however, I have seen many of these models break over the years. I would highly recommend my client Sharp for Multifunction Copiers and Multifunction Printers because I have yet to see one fail.

These are all great all-in-ones. We provide some great software to enhance the document capture and scanning aspect.
