Most Expensive Luxury Cruises In The World

The invention of boats enabled us to cross large water bodies. Like most things that exist, man has always come up with grander versions of basic necessities. The simple and humble boat had to evolve into a lavish luxury.

Man-powered and sail-propelled boats were enough for us to traverse oceans. But traveling by sea didn’t have to be a tiring experience. So, we came up with motorboats in 1886. As a result, we could now travel by putting less effort into it.

Now that we had time and energy to spend on an engine-powered boat, something had to be done about it. This led to the invention of the cruise ship. The first ever luxury cruise ship was built in 1900. So, it took only 14 years to use the concept of a basic motorboat and come up with a luxurious version of it. Such is man’s desire for luxury.

Like in any industry, competition is intense in the cruise ship industry. Every player in the industry wants his cruises to stand out. Traveling by cruise is already a costly affair. But competitors want their cruise to be the grandest in the business. They all want the latest technologies on their cruises. Thanks to all of this, now we have reached a point where only the crème-de-la-crème afford to board top luxury ships.

Here’s our list of the most expensive cruises in the world:

  1. AIDAnova: AIDAnova was the world’s fifth-largest passenger vessel when is set sail in December 2018. Meyer Werft built this giant of a cruise in Germany at a production cost of $1.1 billion. Its 2,600 passenger cabins can accommodate up to 6,600 passengers along with 1,500 crew members.
The distinct feature of AIDAnova is the Green Cruising concept – it is the first-ever cruise ship that can be powered by LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) at sea or in port. 17 restaurants take care of your culinary needs along with 23 bars. You can also loosen up at the luxury spa. The 360- degree theater will take care of your entertainment needs.

All three can accommodate 4,905 passengers in addition to 1,500 crew members.
All three have some amusing features. A glass capsule rises from the top deck to give mesmerizing views of the sea.
