Ukrainian billionaire Rinat Akhmetov buys $221 million French villa from Campari group
Rinat Akhmetov, Ukraine’s richest man, has bought a lavish 14-bedroom vill for $221 million in the French Riviera town of Saint-Jean Cap-Ferrat from an Italian drinks maker Campari group. Rinat Akhmetov is the richest man in Ukraine, with an estimated fortune of $5.8 billion.
Villa des Cèdres, an 18,000-square-foot mansion in the French Riviera town of Saint-Jean Cap-Ferrat, was constructed in the 1800s, which was once home to Leopold II of Belgium.
It boasts 14 bedrooms, its own ballroom, stables, botanical gardens, and an Olympic-sized swimming pool.
The mansion was bought by the System Capital Management holding (SCM Holding), where 100% of shares belong to Rinat Akhmetov. The villa is an 18,000-square-foot, 14-bedroom mansion set on 35 acres in one of the most expensive corners of Europe.
Rinat Akhmetov is the only Ukrainian to enter the list of 500 richest people in the world with a $5.8 billion fortune, according to the CEOWORLD magazine’s rich list index.
53-year-old Akhmetov – who is married with two children – heads a business empire that spans mining, energy, telecoms, retail, property and transport – and Ukrainian football team Shakhtar Donetsk.
His property portfolio also holds an apartment in London’s One Hyde Park worth £137 million. The three-story residence was dubbed the world’s most expensive apartment.
