The United States has retained its position as the most powerful nation in the world for 2020, according to U.S. News Report’s annual power rankings, which are based on perceived power and influence.
The top five are the United States (No. 1), Russia (No. 2), China (No. 3), Germany (No. 4), and the United Kingdom (No. 5). They are unstoppable.
Israel is two places down from France, just behind Japan at 7 and ahead of South Korea at 9. Saudi Arabia ranks 10th on the list of the most powerful nations in the world for 2020.
The report analyzed the world’s most powerful nations – those that consistently dominate news headlines, preoccupy policymakers and shape global economic patterns. The rankings are part of its annual “Best Countries” study, which evaluates 80 countries based on responses from 21,000 people. Respondents were asked to associate various countries with attributes including the strength of their alliances and economic influence.
The bottom five are Slovakia (69), Lithuania (70), Latvia (71), Estonia (72), and Slovenia (73).
