ECLAC to Release Annual Report on Economic Outlook for Latin America and the Caribbean

The Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) is set to present its flagship annual report, Preliminary Overview of the Economies of Latin America and the Caribbean 2024, on Wednesday, December 18. The report will analyze the region’s economic performance over the past year and provide updated growth projections and economic indicators for 2024 and 2025.

This year’s edition will offer revised Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth forecasts for the region and individual countries, alongside an assessment of economic and social trends for 2024. It will also explore the policy challenges and risks the region is expected to face in 2025 as it continues to grapple with low growth capacity.

The findings will be unveiled at a hybrid press conference led by José Manuel Salazar-Xirinachs, ECLAC’s Executive Secretary, and Daniel Titelman, Director of the Economic Development Division. The event will take place at 11:00 a.m. local time in Chile (UTC/GMT -3:00) and will be accessible both in person and virtually.

According to insights from the report, the region is anticipated to experience a continuation of its sluggish growth trend in 2024 and 2025. Detailed results on the primary economic indicators will be shared during the press conference, providing a comprehensive outlook on the challenges ahead for the economies of Latin America and the Caribbean.
