Dexus Appoints Ross Du Vernet as the forthcoming CEO and Executive Director

Dexus has announced the appointment of Ross Du Vernet as the forthcoming Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director, succeeding Darren Steinberg. Steinberg will continue to serve as Dexus CEO until March 2024 and will collaborate closely with Du Vernet and the Board to ensure a seamless transition.

Du Vernet, a member of the Executive Leadership Team since 2012, brings over 20 years of extensive property industry experience, focusing on corporate transactions, strategy, development, and funds management in both Australian and international markets.

Warwick Negus, Dexus Chair, expressed the Board’s enthusiasm about Du Vernet’s appointment following extensive planning and a global search for succession throughout 2023. The Board is confident that alongside the esteemed Executive Leadership Team, Du Vernet will effectively lead Dexus through its next growth phase.

Negus also acknowledged Steinberg’s significant contributions over his 12-year tenure, noting his pivotal role in increasing Dexus’s total funds under management from $12.9 billion to $61.0 billion. Steinberg’s leadership has also improved portfolio quality and expanded into new sectors like healthcare, opportunistic investments, and infrastructure.

Expressing his appreciation for the team, Steinberg highlighted the achievement of fostering a talented workforce. He congratulated Du Vernet on his new role and expressed confidence in Dexus’s future under his leadership.

Du Vernet, currently the Chief Investment Officer at Dexus, conveyed his honor of being appointed CEO. He emphasized Dexus’s strong position and pledged to collaborate with clients, the Board, and the wider team to deliver lasting value for investors. He aspires to achieve the vision of establishing Dexus as the premier real asset manager in Australasia.
