CEOWORLD magazine has recently unveiled the highly-anticipated CEOWORLD magazine Art List 2023, an exclusive ranking that showcases the most successful and influential living artists across the globe. This comprehensive list is determined based on the sales of their works at public auctions throughout the year, with a special focus on artistic excellence, cultural impact, and commercial success. The CEOWORLD magazine’s Art List 2023 features an impressive collection of visionary and diverse artists, making it an essential guide for art enthusiasts and collectors alike.
Prof. Dr. Amarendra Bhushan Dhiraj, the Executive Chairman and Chief Executive of CEOWORLD Magazine, said, “Our aim is to inspire more businesses and entrepreneurs to venture into the field of art collecting by providing them with a reliable and unbiased reference point. Our list comprises of living artists who have gained significant recognition in the secondary market and is intended to serve as an objective guide for those interested in collecting potential.”
According to the CEOWORLD magazine Art List, German artist Gerhard Richter topped the list with sales of $230 million. In the last year, 369 of Richter’s works were sold, including his 1994 abstract painting Abstraktes Bild. Richter’s works span different styles, such as romanticism, photorealism, abstract expressionism, minimalism, and pop art.
Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama ranked second in the list with sales of $195 million. She is the only female artist in the top ten. A total of 948 of her works were sold in the last year. British artist David Hockney ranked third with $175 million in sales. Last year, 820 of Hockney’s works were sold, with the most expensive being his 1969 landscape painting, “Early Morning, Sainte-Maxime”. Hockney splits his time between Yorkshire, London, and California. He is known as the “Godfather of British art” and his work utilizes two-dimensional pictures to reflect the three-dimensional world, creating a static image that captures motion and time, with a strong visual impact of color.
Japanese artist Yoshitomo Nara came in fourth with $98 million in sales. Last year, 500 of Nara’s works were sold, with his iconic painting of a cute, lonely little girl resonating with young people around the world. American pop artist Jasper Johns ranked fifth with $93 million in sales. His early works were inspired by simple objects such as flags, targets, and letters. Later in his career, Johns’ work incorporated artistic concepts to give his pieces various avant-garde meanings.
