Uber Makes Its App Available In Rhodes And Corfu

The Uber Taxi service is now available on two more Greek islands, Rhodes and Corfu. The service has been used since 2021 in Santorini, Mykonos since 2022, Thessaloniki since 2021, and Athens since 2014. Through the Uber app, citizens and tourists now have a reliable transportation choice to popular tourist destinations in Greece.

The large tourist traffic in Greece directs visitors to search for Uber services. In the summer of 2022, there was a 180% increase in tourist routes with Uber compared to 2019, which was the previous year without restrictions due to the pandemic. Uber is also expanding its cooperation with local brokerage service providers in Greece. Thus, from April to October, Comfort and VAN services will also be available in Santorini, Mykonos, Corfu, and Rhodes, providing residents and visitors with yet another option for safe and comfortable travel.

Uber Taxi provides passengers with the ease of experience of requesting a ride: by entering the required destination and selecting a taxi, users can calculate the taxi’s estimated arrival time, license plate number, vehicle model, and necessary driver information. At the same time, drivers can access the app and start accepting ride requests from any of Uber’s 131 million monthly active users worldwide who visit the above islands at the touch of a button.

Greece and especially the Greek islands are expected to attract many tourists this summer. Most tourists choose taxis for their transportation. Because they are usually familiar with Uber in their country of origin, they choose the same mode of transportation in Greece.

Uber has identified the potential hidden in Greece’s tourism product and therefore planned its further expansion in the country. Since the beginning of 2023, Athens has not stopped receiving tourists after the relaxation of COVID-19 restrictions. Of course, the fact that this year’s winter in Athens was mild compared to other years also helped.

It is worth mentioning that Uber was founded in 2010. The company’s goal and mission are to create transportation opportunities and make people’s lives easier. When it started, the goal was to solve a simple problem. What was that? People can access a route easily and quickly at the push of a button. And it succeeded. It has reached 36 billion routes and continues to strive to bring people closer to where they want to be. By changing how people move around cities, Uber is a platform that opens the world to new opportunities.
