Costa Coffee, a subsidiary of Coca-Cola Co., has announced the appointment of Philippe Schaillee as its new CEO, effective 10 April 2023. He joins Costa Coffee from Groupe SEB, where he has served as Executive Vice President in charge of Products and Innovation since April 2021.

Before joining the French small appliance manufacturer, he was General Manager for Jacobs Douwe Egberts (JDE) Group across Belgium, Luxembourg, and France. As the company’s president, Philippe has also contributed to the growth of Jacobs Douwe Egberts (JDE) Group for 5 years. Before that, he was a member of Sara Lee’s team, taking charge of various positions in the company.

His academic degrees include a Bachelor’s and a Master’s. He completed his Bachelor’s in economics at the Catholic University Leuven, while at Vlerick Leuven Ghent Management School, he obtained a Master’s in business administration.

Philippe Schaillee will be based at Costa Coffee’s headquarters in London and report to Evguenia (Jeny) Stoichkova, President of Coca-Cola’s Global Ventures division.

“Philippe is an outstanding leader who comes to Costa with a deep background in business and a passion for building great brands. We look forward to working with Philippe to expand on the plans we have developed to grow Costa, both in its home country of England and beyond,” said Evguenia (Jeny) Stoichkova, President of Coca-Cola’s Global Ventures division.

Costa Coffee currently operates 2,700 stores across the UK and more than 1,100 across over 40 countries.

Philippe Schaillee succeeds Jill McDonald, who stepped down as Costa Coffee CEO at the end of July 2022 to join the US fast-food chain McDonald’s as Executive Vice President and President of International Operated Markets. In July 2022, Costa Coffee appointed Shakir Moin as Interim CEO. Atlanta-based Coca-Cola, which acquired Costa Coffee for $5.4bn in 2018, reported full-year 2022 revenue growth of 11% to reach $43bn.
