Essity CEO Magnus Groth to Step Down After a Decade of Leadership
Magnus Groth, who has served as President and CEO of Essity Aktiebolag (publ) for nearly a decade, announced to the Board of Directors his decision to step down in 2025 after 14 years with the company. The Board has initiated the recruitment process for his successor, ensuring a smooth transition in leadership.
Jan Gurander, Chairman of the Board, praised Groth for his transformative leadership over the past ten years, highlighting his pivotal role in listing Essity and driving its evolution into a more profitable, innovative, and growth-oriented company. Gurander emphasized the importance of Groth’s contributions in establishing a strong foundation for Essity’s continued global expansion and extended the Board’s gratitude for his dedicated service.
Reflecting on his tenure, Groth stated that leading Essity, and previously SCA, had been a deeply rewarding experience. He expressed his appreciation for the global collaboration with employees and celebrated Essity’s position as a world-leading hygiene and health company with strong brands, a talented team, and recognized sustainability initiatives, all contributing to profitable growth. After 14 years at Essity, including ten as CEO, Groth noted that the timing felt right for him and the company to begin a new chapter.
Groth, who has a one-year notice period, will remain in his role as President and CEO until a successor is appointed.
