Elon Musk’s Social Media Interaction Sparks Buzz Around Indian-Origin CEO
A recent social media interaction between Elon Musk and Aravind Srinivas, the Indian-origin CEO of Perplexity AI, has drawn widespread attention. Srinivas, who has been waiting for a green card for three years, reached out to Musk on the platform X to seek advice about his application status.
Srinivas reportedly asked Musk whether he should receive a green card, prompting the billionaire to respond with a succinct “Yes.” The brief exchange sparked significant online activity, with Srinivas later expressing his gratitude through emojis—a red heart and folded hands.
Perplexity AI, the company Srinivas co-founded in 2022, is an AI-powered search engine backed by prominent investors, including Jeff Bezos. Alongside Srinivas, the founding team includes Andy Konwinski, Denis Yarats, and Johnny Ho. Currently, Srinivas serves as the company’s CEO.
An alumnus of IIT Madras, Srinivas furthered his education with a PhD from the University of California, Berkeley. He began his career as a research intern at OpenAI and later worked at leading tech firms such as Google and DeepMind. Before launching Perplexity, he returned to OpenAI as a research scientist.
This isn’t Musk’s first interaction with Srinivas on X. Just a few days earlier, the SpaceX CEO had responded to another post by the Indian-origin entrepreneur regarding his green card wait, continuing their notable online exchanges.
