Empowering Women Entrepreneurs: Aysuluu Chymyrbaeva on Her Business Journey

Aysuluu Chymyrbaeva

In 2023, women entrepreneurs are reshaping the global business landscape, with 43% of startups worldwide founded by women, according to Techreport. This surge in female entrepreneurship drives economic growth, breaks traditional barriers, and redefines leadership across industries. However, such successful ventures remain relatively rare in today’s volatile world. To explore how women can build sustainable and profitable businesses, we spoke with Aysuluu Chymyrbaeva, CEO of an accounting and consultancy firm, a member of the International Coaching Federation (ICF), and the winner of the “Women in Business” program supported by the Swiss Government and EBRD.

Where the Journey Begins

Every great entrepreneurial journey starts with a moment of choice — a decision to embrace uncertainty in pursuit of a vision. In 2012, after returning from maternity leave, Aysuluu faced such a moment. Rather than returning to a conventional career, she chose to chart her path. Armed with determination and a clear vision but limited resources, she founded Global Balance LLC, an accounting and consultancy firm in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, marking the start of a transformative journey.

“I remember sitting at the kitchen table with my toddler sleeping in the next room, thinking, ‘If I don’t start now, I never will.’ It was terrifying but also exhilarating. I had to prove to myself — and to others — that motherhood doesn’t mean the end of ambition,” Aysuluu recalls.

What started as a modest venture with a turnover of $2,500 in its first year has grown into a regional trailblazer, with 2023 revenue exceeding $200,000 and over $256,000 recorded in the first nine months of 2024. This remarkable growth reflects years of dedication to professionalism and a careful, client-focused approach. Global Balance LLC now serves over 200 clients, including renowned brands like Lukoil and others. The company has maintained long-term partnerships with more than 70 clients, solidifying its reputation as a trusted partner in financial management.

Overcoming Challenges in a Competitive Industry

Aysuluu’s journey was never about following an established path but about carving a new one. Launching a business in the competitive accounting sector presented immediate challenges: limited funding, scarce human resources, and constant changes in tax regulations.

“The challenges I faced were daunting initially, but they pushed me to think creatively and adapt. Every obstacle became a chance to reinvent my approach and build something stronger,” she shares.

Her leadership style is rooted in trust, authenticity, and a commitment to quality. Such an approach helped Aysuluu develop practical solutions, like tax optimization strategies, where her team analyzes a company’s financial data and compares tax regimes to find the most cost-effective option. In one case, this approach helped clients reduce their tax expenses by nearly eight times. Combined with automated accounting systems that cut labor costs by 40%, these innovations make operations smoother and more efficient. These efforts have enabled clients to boost their profits by 15-20% annually, freeing up resources for growth and establishing Global Balance as a leader in efficiency and innovation.

Bridging Professionalism and Social Impact

“A business should be a force for good. For me, that means using every success as a chance to give back,” Aysuluu often says. This belief shapes everything she does, from leading her company to mentoring others and supporting her community.

As CEO of Global Balance LLC, Aysuluu has built a business beyond financial success. By introducing practical solutions like tax optimization strategies, which save clients up to 30% on taxes, and automated systems that cut accounting time by 70%, she has helped businesses operate more efficiently and profitably.

But for Aysuluu, success isn’t just about numbers. It’s about creating opportunities and making an impact. Over the years, she has trained more than 30 young accountants, many of whom had little experience when they joined her team. Through her guidance, they’ve gained valuable skills and gone on to lead successful careers. She’s also built a workplace culture rooted in respect, inclusion, and support — a reflection of the values she holds close.

Supporting Women Entrepreneurs

Aysuluu’s commitment to blending professionalism with social impact naturally extends to her passion for empowering others. Her business success has provided her with a platform to inspire and uplift aspiring entrepreneurs, particularly women, by sharing the tools and strategies that have shaped her journey.

Her participation in the Women in Business Program, supported by the Swiss Government and EBRD, was a turning point. Winning this competition validated her efforts and inspired her to mentor others.

“When I won the Women in Business Program, it wasn’t just about my success —i t was a reminder of what’s possible when women support each other. Seeing the spark of confidence in someone’s eyes during a workshop or coaching session is the most rewarding part of what I do,” she shares.

As a coach and mentor, she has trained over 30 young accountants, many of whom entered the workforce with little or no prior experience, such as recent graduates or women returning from extended maternity leave. Recognizing the barriers these individuals face in the job market, Aysuluu deliberately hires and trains young women, offering them a rare opportunity to gain practical skills and work experience. Many of these trainees have since advanced to roles as chief accountants, a testament to her dedication to fostering talent and empowering women. Through workshops, masterclasses, and coaching, Aysuluu equips aspiring entrepreneurs with practical tools and the confidence to overcome societal barriers. Her work extends beyond individuals, igniting a broader cultural shift toward recognizing and supporting women entrepreneurs in Kyrgyzstan and Central Asia.

Looking Ahead: Expanding Impact

Today, Aysuluu is a prominent figure in Asia’s entrepreneurial landscape, known for inspiring young professionals, supporting women, and driving growth for small businesses. Yet, she views her journey as just beginning.

Her vision for the future is expansive: to pursue advanced education at a leading global university, to take her methodologies to international markets, and to continue fostering a culture of equity and innovation. Through her work, Aysuluu is shaping her legacy and building a foundation for others to follow.

As women-led startups continue to rise, they offer a powerful model for sustainable growth that blends profit with purpose. This shift challenges industries to embrace diversity, foster collaboration, and rethink conventional approaches to leadership. In doing so, female entrepreneurs contribute to economic progress and inspire a new generation to believe in their potential to drive meaningful change.
