Allianz Appoints Thomas Lillelund as Incoming CEO of AGCS for 2025
Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty SE (AGCS) has announced that Thomas Lillelund will be appointed as CEO of AGCS at the beginning of 2025, pending regulatory approval and the completion of his current obligations. Lillelund will also take on the leadership of Allianz Commercial, the company’s global initiative focused on the Commercial Property & Casualty insurance sector, serving mid-sized, large corporate, and specialty clients.
With over 25 years of experience in the insurance industry, Lillelund, a Danish national, brings a wealth of international expertise. Before his current position as CEO of AIG’s operations across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, he held leadership roles with Aspen Re, Gen Re, and Swiss Re, having worked across various regions, including Europe, the UK, Singapore, South Africa, Hong Kong, and the United States. He holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from The College of William & Mary in the U.S. and a master’s in business administration from Western University in Canada.
Chris Townsend, welcoming the appointment, expressed his enthusiasm for Lillelund’s upcoming role, highlighting his track record of driving profitable growth and building strong, client-focused cultures. Townsend emphasized Lillelund’s expertise in developing high-performing teams and maintaining underwriting integrity, noting his excitement about collaborating with Lillelund and the Allianz Commercial team to advance the company’s integrated approach to serving global corporate and specialty customers.
