On the Frontiers of Biohacking: Ari Rastegar

Ari Rastegar

Biohacking, at its core, is about pushing the boundaries of human potential. This avant-garde movement, once the preserve of renegade thinkers and mavericks, has percolated into the mainstream, capturing the imagination of a society ever-hungry for transcendence and transformation. Leaders in the community, a motley crew of scientists, enthusiasts, and visionaries, are driven by a relentless quest to unlock the secrets of the human body, optimizing health, enhancing physical and cognitive abilities, and even extending longevity.

Now, biohacking is becoming more popular thanks to prominent leaders in sports as well as major CEOs in real estate, finance, entertainment, tech, and more. Legends like Tom Brady and CEOs like Jeff Bezos and Ari Rastegar are endorsing and sharing their enthusiasm for their favorite practices.

Brady’s regimen includes following a strict diet, getting at least eight hours of sleep per night, drinking plenty of water, doing resistance training, using infrared saunas, taking supplements, meditating, and more. During his career, Brady became the most accomplished NFL player of all time and he credits his biohacking lifestyle for helping him maintain maximum performance being the first to maintain such an elite level well into his 40s. Now that he is retired, Brady has started multiple biohacking-related ventures continuing his journey.

Bezos has long been interested in biohacking and longevity research. He has invested in Unity Biotechnology, a company that researches drugs and treatments that can make a person functional and free of diseases associated with aging. Revolutionizing e-commerce, venturing into space exploration, and becoming the second richest person alive, Bezos surely has some secret biohacking techniques he keeps close to the chest.

Rastegar, a real estate magnate, prominent investor, and CEO of Rastegar Property Company, epitomizes the effective use of biohacking in enhancing personal health and professional success, going above and beyond his colleagues.

Rastegar’s commitment to optimizing his physical and mental well-being involves a series of unique and often cutting-edge practices.

Despite the lack of approval in the United States, Rastegar regularly visits Tijuana, Mexico, for stem-cell infusions. The treatment aims to regenerate tissues and organs, relieve pain, and enhance overall quality of life.

Rastegar’s regimen also includes sophisticated devices and treatments closer to home. He utilizes the LightStim Bed, AquaCure Hydrogen Water Machine, and NanoVi Eng3, along with the Bio Charger NG and Bio Modulator. Rastegar also follows a strict Platinum LED Red Light Therapy complemented by his Oxygen Machine-Hypermax Oxygen Ewot System. Rastegar leverages additional cutting-edge technology like AC Filter (Reme Halo), an Omega Vertical Masticating Juicer, a Haleo device for PEMF (Pulsed Electromagnetic Field) therapy, Normatec Compression Sleeves, blue light glasses, an Inversion Table, and more.

Rastegar’s commitment to wellness has him rethinking many traditional health assumptions. While everyone showers, not everyone understands how harmful chemicals in standard filtration systems can negatively affect our skin, hormones, and overall health. To mitigate this, Rastegar has incorporated specialized shower heads, from Jolie and Ophora Water Shower Heads, into his routine. Furthermore, while many health enthusiasts willingly take multiple vitamins and supplements daily, Rastegar has an impressive intake of about 150.

As rest and sleep are some of the most vital components of a biohacking regimen, it is no surprise Rastegar is hellbent on perfecting those habits as well. The real estate mogul meditates in a Hyperbaric Chamber from ATX Hyperbarics for 70 minutes three times a week to maximize rest and leverages the ChiliPad Sleep System to optimize his sleeping pattern.

Furthermore, Rastegar undergoes blood transfusions as a part of other efforts to reverse his biological age. To this point, Rastegar works closely with Dr. Jacob Rosenstein, iconic neurosurgeon and founder of The Southwest Age Intervention Institute. Together, Rastegar has restored his telomere lengths, effectively reversing his biological age to that of a child.

In 2021, he told The New York Post, “I’m in the best shape of my life…But it’s not a vanity or egotistical thing. I’m in risk management and it’s an investment in my health.”

In 2023, Rastegar’s investment is paying dividends, as he is in even better shape two years later.

Rastegar was featured in The Wall Street Journal to explore his unique commitment to biohacking and a wellness lifestyle. The article also highlights how Rastegar has  incorporated biohacking elements into his home, a substantial 8,200-square-foot property in West Lake Hills, Texas. They deliberately designed the mansion to support their biohacking lifestyle, seamlessly integrating many of their favorite technologies and products.

Evolving into a full-fledged biohacking thought leader — on par with Brady, Bezos, and other famous voices — has long been in the cards for Rastegar. As far back as 2019, GQ prominently featured Rastager and his “massively intense” biohacking regimen, as they coined it.

As biohacking continues to evolve, it raises profound questions about the future of humanity. In its promise lies the potential for unparalleled human advancement; in its peril, the specter of unforeseen consequences. Thus, it stands, a tantalizing and enigmatic frontier, at the crossroads of human ingenuity and nature’s immutable laws. Keep an eye on leaders in the space, like Rastegar, who are willingly putting themselves on the frontlines for the sake of longevity and science.
