Countries With the Most Female Billionaires, 2023

Although the United States is known for being home to some of the most well-known male billionaires, including Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, and Bill Gates, a recent study by CEOWORLD magazine has revealed that 29% of the 327 richest women in the world also reside in the US.

In fact, the US is home to 97 of the wealthiest women globally, which is more than twice the number found in China, Germany, Italy, and other countries.

The richest woman in the world, Françoise Bettencourt Meyers ($86.8 billion), hails from France, but wealthy U.S. billionaires like Walmart inheritor Alice Walton ($63.1 billion) and New York-based socialite Julia Koch ($59.4 billion) are the world’s second and third richest women, respectively. Candy heiress Jacqueline Mars comes in fourth place with a fortune of $36.9 billion, and MacKenzie Scott, has amassed approximately $35.7 billion.

China follows the United States, housing a total of 44 female billionaires, while Germany takes third place with 34. Italy is home to 19 female billionaires. India is home to the fifth-highest number of female billionaires in the world. India has 14 female billionaires, with Savitri Jindal being the richest woman in India with a net worth of $20.5 billion. Australia, and Hong Kong tie in 6th place, with each country home to nine female billionaires.
