Marcos Cela is the Successor of Julio Rodríguez in the Role of CEO at Cementos Molins

Cementos Molins has named Marcos Cela as its new Chief Executive Officer, succeeding Julio Rodríguez, who has served in the position for the past nine years. Rodríguez’s decision to step down prompted the leadership change, effective at the end of June following the Shareholders Annual General Meeting, where Cela’s appointment will be officially confirmed. As part of the transition process, Rodríguez and Cela will collaborate in the coming months, with the final validation scheduled for the end of June 2024 at the Shareholders Annual General Meeting.

This transition follows a meticulously planned process that unfolded over the past year and a half, initiated by Rodríguez’s expressed intention to resign. Cementos Molins’ board conducted a comprehensive evaluation, leading to Cela’s appointment, acknowledging his professional expertise, market knowledge, leadership prowess, and personal attributes. The decision was unanimous among board members, with Rodríguez’s full support.

Cela, a graduate of the University of Barcelona with an MBA from ESADE Business School and a PADE from IESE Business School, brings over two decades of experience to the role. He began his career in finance at Decathlon Spain in 1995, later holding leadership positions at BIC Graphic Europe before joining Cementos Molins in 2004 as Chief Financial Officer.

Meanwhile, Rodríguez, appointed CEO in April 2015, oversaw a period of remarkable growth for Cementos Molins, doubling sales to €1.349 billion and tripling net profit to €151 million during his tenure.

The board of directors extends its appreciation to Rodríguez for his dedication and exemplary leadership while wishing Cela success in his new position, marking a new chapter in the company’s journey.

Cela expressed enthusiasm for his new role, emphasizing his preparedness and gratitude for the board’s trust, while Rodríguez praised Cela’s deep understanding of the company and its operations, deeming him an ideal successor.
