Following the departure of former CEO Duncan Cockburn to London-based insurtech Zego, UK challenger OneBanx has appointed Javed Anjum, a former board member, as its new CEO. OneBanx, a part of the Glory Group, aims to navigate today’s cash challenges and transition to a digital future under Anjum’s leadership.
Anjum’s journey to CEO at OneBanx includes various roles at Glory, culminating in his position as innovation program director. Previously, he served at NCR Corporation as a software business specialist for the UK and Ireland.
Glory’s majority stake acquisition in OneBanx last summer, followed by additional share purchases in December, underscores the company’s growing control and influence within the challenger. Anjum expressed optimism about OneBanx’s potential to revolutionize small business transaction processing through its modern technology platform.
Toshimitsu Yoshinari, OneBanx board director and chief solution officer at Glory Global Solutions, highlighted Anjum’s extensive experience in multi-channel banking and branch transformation, emphasizing its relevance as OneBanx focuses on supporting the financial industry’s compliance with forthcoming FCA regulations on access to cash.
