Manuel Villar Εmerges as the Richest man in the Philippines with a Net Worth of $10.8 Billion

Against the backdrop of a resilient Philippine economy, which witnessed a commendable 6.4% growth in the first quarter of 2023, marking a consecutive two-year streak of post-pandemic recovery expansion, the economic horizon appears robust. Despite prevailing challenges such as inflation and higher interest rates, the country’s benchmark stock index surged by 6%, signaling a buoyant market sentiment that translated into significant gains for the nation’s top earners. Consequently, the collective wealth of the Philippines’ 50 wealthiest individuals experienced a remarkable upswing, soaring to $80 billion from the previous year’s $72 billion.

Currently, the property magnate is Manuel Villar, whose substantial fortune of approximately $10.8 billion solidifies his position at the helm. Villar’s wealth witnessed a noteworthy increase of around $1.9 billion, propelled by the resilience of the housing market and his adept navigation of the real estate sector. Notably, Villar’s listing of Premiere Island Power REIT in December 2022 further bolstered his financial portfolio, contributing to his impressive wealth accumulation.

Chairing property developer Vista Land & Lifescapes, Villar oversees a diversified business empire, including VistaREIT, a real estate investment trust, and Golden MV Holdings, a key player in mass housing projects and memorial parks development. Additionally, Villar’s corporate portfolio boasts four other listed entities, encompassing Vistamalls, AllHome, AllDay Marts, and Premiere Island Power REIT.

With a keen eye on diversification, Villar ventures into new territories, including investments in free-to-air TV. Furthermore, Villar’s familial ties extend to Philippine politics, with his wife Cynthia and son Mark serving as senators, while daughter Camille represents their hometown Las Piñas in southern Metro Manila.
