Ted Bloom Succeeds Simon Mellor as Messe Frankfurt Middle East CEO

Ted Bloom has been appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of Messe Frankfurt Middle East (MFME), effective April 1, 2024. The current CEO, Simon Mellor, is stepping down for family reasons. Bloom, who served in the acting CEO role for the majority of 2023, will continue to steer the strategic direction and operational excellence of the company.

Ted Bloom, with three decades of experience in the exhibition industry, joined MFME in 2022 as Chief Operating Officer, rising to the position of interim Managing Director in 2023.

Simon Mellor, during his tenure as CEO since 2019, played a crucial role in guiding MFME through the challenges of the pandemic. Under his leadership, the company achieved record revenues, impressive visitor numbers in 2022, and an expansion of its event portfolio.

Bloom expressed gratitude for Mellor’s leadership and mentorship, wishing him the best for the next chapter. As the exhibition industry in the Middle East continues to thrive, driven by significant demand from exhibitors and record numbers of visitors, Bloom looks forward to achieving greater milestones with the talented team. He is confident that MFME’s portfolio of business-to-business exhibitions, including flagship brands like Intersec, Automechanika, and Beautyworld, will continue to provide platforms for connection across the region.

Reflecting on his time with MFME, Mellor expressed his enjoyment of leading the company over the past five years. He acknowledged the challenges of 2020 and celebrated the outstanding growth in the 2022 and 2023 exhibition seasons. Mellor highlighted Ted Bloom as an incredible support and driver for the team, expressing confidence in Bloom’s ability to lead the company towards its vision and potential.
