As of January 2, 2024, Tadashi Yanai was the wealthiest person in Japan, with an estimated net worth of 37.4 billion U.S. dollars, followed by Masayoshi Son (No. 2, $24.4 billion), Takemitsu Takizaki (No. 3, $20.8 billion); and Takahisa Takahara (No. 4, $6.9 billion).

Yasumitsu Shigeta is the fifth-richest person in Japan, with a whopping $4.3 billion. Takao Yasuda ranked 6th with a personal wealth of $4.1 billion, followed by Masahiro Noda with $4.1 billion. Akio Nitori is placed 8th with a net worth of $3.8 billion. Akira Mori & family ($3.7 billion) occupied the 9th position among the top 10 wealthiest people in Japan.
