AMA Group Shuffles the Cards to Reconsider Its Leaders
Mathew Cooper has been promoted to the position of CEO at AMA Group, effective immediately, amidst a series of leadership changes within the collision repairer. Carl Bizon, the former CEO, stepped down after the company’s annual general meeting. Additionally, Caroline Waldron has taken over as Chairperson, succeeding Anthony Day, amid several board changes.
Having initially joined AMA as the COO in September 2021, Mr. Cooper’s role encompassed various responsibilities, including overseeing business development, commercial partnerships, and managing operational aspects across all group business units.
Ms. Waldron highlighted that Mr. Cooper’s appointment followed an extensive executive search, emphasizing his comprehensive understanding of AMA Group operations, combined with his financial expertise and experience within the automotive industry, which she believes will significantly contribute to the company’s future endeavors.
Before joining AMA, Mr. Cooper held senior executive roles at Bapcor, an ASX-listed automotive parts company, accumulating over eight years of experience. His career also spans positions at Amcor, General Motors, Metcash, and Deloitte.
Expressing confidence in the company’s capabilities, Mr. Cooper acknowledged the efforts of the 3300-strong team across Australia and New Zealand, stating that they have positioned the company well for the future.
