Peter Walker Succeds Dale Bowen in the role of CFO at Instructure

Instructure (NYSE: INST), the learning platform provider and creator of Canvas, has announced the appointment of Peter Walker as its new Chief Financial Officer, effective November 13, 2023. In his role, Walker will lead the finance function at Instructure, aligning with the company’s mission to enhance student success. Dale Bowen, the current CFO, will step down from his position on November 12, 2023, but will assist with the transition until March 2, 2024.

Steve Daly, CEO of Instructure, expressed his enthusiasm for Walker joining the team, citing Walker’s experience as a public company CFO, his background in private equity markets, and his strategic leadership abilities as valuable assets for the company. He also acknowledged Dale Bowen’s significant contributions during his tenure, highlighting the successful transitions Instructure underwent, including its shift from public to private equity markets in 2020 and its return to the public market in 2021.

Peter Walker brings over 15 years of executive experience to his new role, with more than a decade of CFO experience. Presently, he serves as the CFO of Sterling Check Corp., a publicly traded global provider of technology-enabled background and identity services. Prior to this role, Walker held the position of CFO at Jackson Hewitt for two years, overseeing the company’s sale to a new financial sponsor and debt refinancing. He also spent over 15 years at Assurant, a publicly traded global company, holding various senior finance, strategy, and risk management roles, including Chief Strategy Officer. Walker began his career in consulting at Ernst & Young LLP and holds a Bachelor of Science in accounting from Miami University of Ohio, a Master of Business Administration from New York University’s Stern School of Business, and is a certified public accountant.

Walker expressed his excitement about joining Instructure, recognizing the company’s reputation for growth, profitability, and its mission-driven approach to delivering world-class education solutions to over 30 million users globally through Canvas LMS and its extensive learning platform.
