Ernst & Young

Carmine Di Sibio, the global chairman and CEO of Ernst & Young (EY), recently informed the firm’s partners about his decision to retire in June 2024. This announcement signifies a significant upcoming change in leadership for EY, as Di Sibio has played a pivotal role in guiding the company’s strategies and operations. The search for a new chairman and CEO will commence as EY prepares for the transition, marking a critical milestone for the renowned professional services firm.

According to Carmine Di Sibio’s LinkedIn profile, he has had a longstanding career with the Big Four accounting giant Ernst & Young (EY), spanning over four decades. His journey with the company began in 1985 when he joined as America’s banking and capital markets leader. Throughout his tenure, Di Sibio has likely accumulated a wealth of experience and expertise in the financial industry, which has contributed to his leadership role as the global chairman and CEO of EY.

Ernst & Young extended Carmine Di Sibio’s initial four-year term as global chairman and CEO for an additional two years. Originally set to expire this month, his tenure has now been prolonged, indicating the company’s confidence and support in his leadership.

Following Carmine Di Sibio’s planned retirement announcement, Ernst & Young will initiate the succession process in the coming months. The company will embark on the task of identifying and selecting a new leader, with the expectation of announcing the new global chair and chief executive around November.

Di Sibio assumed the role of global chair and chief executive in 2019, bringing with him a wealth of experience gained through his ascent within EY’s US business. He held significant responsibilities during his career, serving financial services clients such as Goldman Sachs. His leadership has contributed to the growth and success of the organization during his tenure.

Ernst & Young (EY) did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Di Sibio’s retirement.
