5 Books That Will Make You Pack Your Bags And Travel

Many great people have recorded their traveling experiences and popularised them in the form of best-sellers. Some people have fictionalized travel and created magic around the very idea of traveling.

These books provide rich and personalized accounts of traveling experiences in various places and can effectively make you go all out and travel.

In this post, I have shortlisted 5 books which will excite your wanderlust and make you travel. You keep them along in your bag and you shall never feel emotionally exhausted in your journey.

So, let us know what those books are and get them as soon as possible.

  1. Into the Wild, Jon Krakauer.

In case you are one of those who loves wilderness and cannot get enough of it, then you must have this masterpiece by John Krakauer.

Into the Wild is a remarkable story of the protagonist, Christopher Johnson McCandless, who leaves his comfortable and resourceful life behind and dives deep into the wilderness. In the wilderness, he finds respite from family issues he had been dealing with and tries building a new and better life for himself. His death, particularly, will leave an indelible impression on you.

2. The Alchemist, Paulo Coelho.

There is a great likelihood that you have read this masterpiece, which is incidentally one of the most translated books in the world. If not, please do yourself a favor and read it as soon as possible.

The Alchemist is a story about life, dreams and the world. It presents the world from the perspective of a young shepherd who leaves behind his comfort in search of a treasure. His journey through the African desert makes him encounter all kinds of people, including the love of his life and makes his convictions to find his treasure stronger and louder. The ending of the book will leave you speechless and teach you a very important lesson—but I will keep mum because you must read it to enjoy it.

One of the best things about this book is that it is magical and real at the same time. The author’s ideas about God, omens, and dreams are explained in a natural and, surprisingly, a believable setting.

Side note: This is my most favorite book—and I really, really want you to read it, especially when you travel.

3. Eat, Pray, Love: One Woman’s Search for Everything Across Italy, India and Indonesia, Eliza Gilbert.

This New York Bestseller made into a movie starring the well-acclaimed Julia Roberts has won many hearts, especially those who find the whole idea of traveling enlightening. Eat, Pray, Love is the story all those things which are mentioned in the title—and the lead character, Eliza Gilbert herself, gets all these three during her international travels.

To give you a brief synopsis: the story is about Eliza who leaves behind her everything in search of a great many things. She finds pleasure in Italy, calmness through meditation in India, and love in Bali. She expresses her experiences in such a manner that you would want to pack your bags and travel along with her.

Once you start reading this book, you will start building a different perspective towards life and how travel can help you experience it at its best.

4. In a Sunburned Country, Bill Bryson.

Traveling to Australia? Then, you must read this book. Bill Bryson writes an informative but exciting piece on travel to Australia. The book traces his journey through the continent, which he mapped from east to west. You will know about every town and city he visited and the forests he traveled across.

In this book, you will know that Australia is not just about comfort and awe; there are many experiences of the author which show that there are adventure and fear awaiting every traveler.

5. The Shadow of the Sun, Ryszard Kapuscinski.

The Shadow of the Sun is written by a Polish journalist, Ryszard Kapuscinski, who spent a lot of time traveling within and writing about Africa.

Africa is a very underrated continent and the first things which will probably come to your mind when someone says ‘Africa’ are camels and colored people. The author, in this book, describes an Africa which is totally beyond our imagination and limited knowledge. Once you finish the book, you will come to perceive Africa in a completely transformed and positive way.
