Corsair Gaming, Inc. (Nasdaq: CRSR) has announced a significant leadership transition, as founder and CEO Andy Paul prepares to retire from the company and its board, effective July 1, 2025. In a strategic move, the board of directors has appointed Thi La, currently serving as Corsair’s President and Chief Operating Officer, to step into the role of CEO on the same date.
La, a seasoned executive in the gaming and tech industries, has been an integral part of Corsair since 2010. Her leadership has been instrumental in transforming the company from a $300 million business into a powerhouse of innovation. She spearheaded the expansion of Corsair’s product lineup, broadening its offerings beyond DIY components to include cutting-edge gaming and streaming solutions. In recognition of her contributions, she was appointed to the Board of Directors in December 2021. She has held the positions of Chief Operating Officer since 2013 and President since 2021, following her tenure as Senior Vice President and General Manager of the gaming PC component division. Before joining Corsair, she held leadership roles at Opnext, Inc., and HP, where she managed a consumer PC product line generating over $3 billion in revenue. La holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from San Jose State University.
Reflecting on his departure, Paul described his decision as bittersweet, stating that leading Corsair for 31 years had been an incredible journey filled with challenges and triumphs. He expressed deep pride in the team’s accomplishments and emphasized his confidence in La’s ability to lead the company into its next phase of success. He noted that her extensive experience, vision, and passion made her the ideal choice to drive Corsair’s future innovation and growth.
George Majoros, Jr., Chairman of Corsair’s Board of Directors, praised Paul’s remarkable influence on the gaming industry, acknowledging his pivotal role in shaping the company’s legacy. On behalf of the board and Corsair’s employees, he extended gratitude for Paul’s decades of leadership and expressed enthusiasm for La’s appointment, citing her proven track record and strategic vision as key assets for Corsair’s continued expansion.
La, in turn, conveyed her gratitude to the board for their trust in her leadership and thanked Paul for his mentorship throughout her 14-year tenure. She emphasized her commitment to putting customers first and driving Corsair’s growth, highlighting the company’s recent acquisition of Fanatec and the upcoming NVIDIA 5000 series launch as key opportunities to propel Corsair into its next chapter.
Founded in 1994 in Silicon Valley by Andy Paul and three engineers, Corsair initially focused on developing high-performance hardware for gaming enthusiasts, including overclocking memory and other DIY components. Under Paul’s leadership and with La at the helm as President, the company expanded its reach, venturing into gaming peripherals through acquisitions and in-house innovation. This strategic evolution has positioned Corsair as a leader in multiple segments of the gaming market, setting the stage for its next era under La’s leadership.
