AS Roma is reportedly finalizing the appointment of a new CEO following an extensive search that began on September 22. The leading candidate for the role is Marzio Perrelli, the current Executive Vice President of Sky Italia, who appears to have outpaced all other contenders.
The position has been vacant since the dismissal of Lina Souloukou by Roma’s ownership, led by the Friedkin family. The search for her successor was conducted with a clear mandate: the new CEO must be Italian and serve as a bridge between the club’s ownership and its internal operations, avoiding the perception of being an outsider in the world of Italian football.
Insiders indicate that Perrelli, born in Rome, has emerged as the frontrunner, surpassing other prominent names such as Fenucci, Montali, Carnevali, and, most notably, Antonello, whom he narrowly edged out in a close contest.
An official announcement is expected soon, marking the end of a high-stakes recruitment process to appoint a key figure at the heart of the club’s management.
