Mukesh Ambani’s Generosity in Anticipation of His Son’s Wedding: Gold and Monetary Checks to 52 Disadvantaged Couples
In anticipation of his youngest son Anant Ambani’s forthcoming nuptials, Mukesh Ambani, Asia’s wealthiest individual, extended his philanthropy by gifting gold jewelry and monetary checks to 52 disadvantaged couples during a large-scale wedding ceremony.
The event was hosted on July 2 at Reliance Corporate Park in Thane City, with approximately 800 family members of the newlyweds in attendance, as reported by India Today.
The couples were presented with various gold ornaments, including mangalsutras, wedding rings, and nose rings. Additionally, they received silver items such as toe rings and anklets. Each bride was endowed with a cheque for around US$1,200 as her stridhan, ensuring her financial independence.
To further support the couples, they were provided with a year’s worth of groceries and household necessities, encompassing 36 essential items, kitchen utensils, appliances like a gas stove, mixer, and fan, as well as bedding supplies including mattresses and pillows.
Mukesh Ambani heads Reliance Industries, a vast conglomerate generating over $100 billion in annual revenue, with diversified interests in sectors such as petrochemicals, oil and gas, telecommunications, and retail, according to the Associated Press.
The wedding of Anant Ambani, aged 29, is set for July 12-14. Anant, a Brown University alumnus, oversees the company’s renewable and green energy initiatives.
