Northern Drilling Sets Sights on New Leadership as Scott McReaken Resigns
In the wake of an executive decision, Northern Drilling, the prominent offshore drilling contractor, prepares to unveil its next CEO. Following the resignation of Scott McReaken, a seasoned veteran boasting over a decade and a half of expertise in the offshore drilling arena, the firm anticipates introducing his successor imminently.
Gary W Casswell, Chairman of Northern Drilling’s board of directors, expressed gratitude, stating, “On behalf of the company, I want to thank Scott for his contributions. We wish him well in his future endeavors.”
McReaken, a graduate in business administration from the University of Texas, embarked on his journey within the industry as part of the esteemed Seadrill group companies in 2012. His tenure included pivotal roles such as CEO and Director of Sevan Drilling Ltd, along with a stint as Chief Financial Officer of North Atlantic Drilling Ltd. Before assuming the CEO mantle at Northern Drilling and Northern Ocean Groups in December 2018.
Additionally, McReaken’s extensive portfolio encompasses service as the Treasurer and Secretary of the International Association of Drilling Contractors (IADC) since 2013. Holding certifications as a Certified Public Accountant and Certified Internal Auditor, McReaken commenced his professional odyssey at Arthur Andersen LLP.
This pivotal transition coincides with Northern Drilling’s strategic contemplation in the aftermath of its legal endeavors regarding the cancellation of orders for two drillships with a South Korean shipbuilder, subsequently impacting its arbitration ruling.
