Gucci Enlists Louis Vuitton Executive Stefano Cantino to Bolster Leadership Team

Gucci

In a strategic maneuver aimed at fortifying its management roster and propelling Gucci to new heights, Kering has appointed Stefano Cantino, a communications executive from Louis Vuitton, as the deputy chief executive officer of the renowned Italian fashion house. His appointment will commence on May 2. He will collaborate closely with Jean-François Palus, president and CEO of Gucci, alongside Francesca Bellettini, Kering’s deputy CEO overseeing brand development.

Cantino’s elevation to this newly established role, reporting directly to Palus, follows the recent tenure of Scott McReaken at Gucci. McReaken’s exit alongside creative director Alessandro Michele set the stage for a new era under Valentino alum Sabato De Sarno.

Palus expressed enthusiasm about Cantino’s extensive industry experience and strategic acumen, highlighting his pivotal role in implementing Gucci’s action plans across the business.

This appointment reflects a broader initiative to reshape Gucci’s corporate culture towards a more collaborative and cohesive structure, adapting to its colossal scale and ambitions. Palus, in conjunction with Bellettini, aims to foster a robust organization capable of sustaining Gucci’s creative momentum and navigating its dynamic growth trajectory.

Cantino’s background spans over two decades in luxury, with notable tenures at Prada and Louis Vuitton, where his expertise encompassed various facets of business development, marketing, and communications.

His arrival signifies a concerted effort to invigorate Gucci’s narrative and brand resonance, aligning with Kering’s overarching strategy to reignite growth and elevate Gucci’s stature as a cultural powerhouse.

As Gucci charts its course towards revitalization, Cantino’s appointment underscores Kering’s commitment to assembling a formidable leadership ensemble capable of steering the brand towards renewed prosperity.
