SkyCity Names Interim CEO as Michael Ahearne Steps Down
SkyCity has announced the appointment of Brad Burnett as the interim Chief Executive Officer for New Zealand, effective March 9th, following the resignation of current CEO Michael Ahearne, which is set to take effect in March 2024. In his new role, Burnett will transition from his current position as General Manager Table Games Auckland, a role he has held since June 2022.
Having served as CEO since November 2020, Ahearne’s decision to step down comes as he prepares to relocate to Europe with his family. Ahearne’s tenure with the New Zealand and Australian gaming operator dates back to 2017.
Burnett brings a wealth of experience to the interim CEO position, having previously served in various capacities within SkyCity, including Group General Manager Hotels. Prior to joining SkyCity, Burnett held roles at prestigious organizations such as the Blackstone Group and Westin Hotels & Resorts.
The appointment of Burnett is subject to obtaining all necessary regulatory approvals, demonstrating SkyCity’s commitment to adhering to regulatory standards while ensuring a smooth leadership transition. As SkyCity navigates this transition period, the company remains focused on delivering exceptional experiences for its patrons and driving value for its stakeholders.
