Bens Creek Group Taps Chris Walker from Peabody Energy as New CEO
Bens Creek Group proudly announces the appointment of Chris Walker, a veteran from US coal miner Peabody Energy, as its new Chief Executive Officer. Initially, Walker will assume the role of CEO for Bens Creek’s coal operation in West Virginia, later transitioning to the position of Group Chief Executive upon Adam Wilson’s departure.
With a background in accounting, Walker brings over fourteen years of invaluable experience from Peabody, where he held various key roles, including Head of Strategy, overseeing international sales and trading operations, notably during his tenure in Australia.
Before joining Bens Creek, Walker served as Chief Financial Officer and Chief Restructuring Officer for Allegiance Coal’s US assets, further enriching his expertise in the coal industry.
Wilson, in his statement, expressed gratitude for his journey with Bens Creek and endorsed Walker’s capability to establish the company as a fully integrated high-value-added metallurgical coal producer, catering to both domestic and international markets.
Walker’s appointment marks a significant milestone for Bens Creek as it continues to strengthen its position in the coal sector under his seasoned leadership.
