Cécile Frot-Coutaz, CEO of Sky Studios, is expanding her role to oversee the entirety of Comcast-owned media group’s content operations in the U.K. and Ireland, excluding sports. She will now hold the title of CEO of Sky Studios and Chief Content Officer. Sky Studios was established in 2019 by longtime Sky executive Gary Davey, who retired in 2021, with Frot-Coutaz succeeding him. Sky Sports’ Managing Director Jonathan Licht will continue reporting to Sky CEO Dana Strong.
Zai Bennett, previously Managing Director of Content for Sky U.K. and Ireland, will now report directly to Frot-Coutaz. Bennett, who joined Sky from Fremantle and YouTube, previously reported to Stephen van Rooyen, Sky’s CEO for the U.K. and Ireland, who is departing the company after 17 years. Bennett will retain his responsibilities for content output and performance, including commissions, acquisitions, and brand management for Sky Entertainment, Sky Cinema, and Sky Kids.
In addition to her existing oversight of Sky’s comedy and drama in Europe, Frot-Coutaz will now also lead content operations in the U.K. and Ireland, as well as Sky News across Europe, with Sky News Executive Chairman David Rhodes reporting to her.
Frot-Coutaz expressed enthusiasm for the consolidation of Sky’s content teams, aiming to maximize the benefits of the content business while investing further in original programming across all genres. She looks forward to closer collaboration with Bennett and the wider teams to enhance investment in British and Irish content.
Under Frot-Coutaz’s leadership, Meghan Lyvers, Director of Original Series at Sky Studios, and Nils Hartmann, EVP for Sky Studios Italia, will also report directly to her.
