Mark Howell Joins Tabcorp as its new CFO

Tabcorp Holdings has named Mark Howell as its new Chief Financial Officer, awaiting regulatory approvals. Howell, currently General Manager for liquor finance and network optimization at Coles Group, will transition to the role before June 2024, taking over from Daniel Renshaw, who left Tabcorp in August. Damien Johnston has been serving as interim CFO since September.

Howell brings extensive experience, having held senior roles at Coles Group, investment banking positions at Rothschild and Goldman Sachs, and prior work at Ernst and Young. Additionally, he’s been a director at Queensland Venue Co. since May 2019.

This announcement follows Tabcorp’s Q1 report, indicating a 6.1% decline in revenue year-on-year. Declines were evident in wagering and media revenue, primarily due to lower fixed odds yields in racing and sports events. Gaming services revenue was down by 12.9%, partly impacted by the sale of eBet, while digital wagering turnover saw a modest increase despite market challenges.

Tabcorp’s Managing Director and CEO, Adam Rytenskild, welcomed Howell’s appointment, emphasizing his suitability for the company’s ongoing transformation. Rytenskild highlighted Howell’s experience in competitive customer-focused industries, particularly in finance leadership and investor relations, as valuable assets for Tabcorp’s growth strategy.
