Mark Palmer’s departure from OBI comes after 40 years with the company, starting as a truck driver for Ocean Beauty and rising to the CEO position in 2007. He took over as OBI Seafoods CEO in 2020 with the merger of Ocean Beauty and Icicle Seafoods, expressing his gratitude to his coworkers and the ownership team.
Tony Ross, who began his seafood industry career in 1988 at Booth Fisheries, was later purchased by Ocean Beauty. He held various financial roles at Ocean Beauty and became CFO in 2007. Over the years, he managed mergers and played a key role in OBI Seafoods’ formation in 2020.
John Hanrahan, who started as a staff accountant at Ocean Beauty Seafoods in 1987, has held various operational and business development roles, including COO, and was responsible for sales and operations at OBI Seafoods in 2020. He is eager to lead the team at OBI and work with partners, customers, vendors, and communities, believing in the company’s potential for future success.
Monica Hollenback, who joined Ocean Beauty in 1993, has worked in accounting and finance roles, including her role as OBI Seafoods’ controller. She played a key role in the merger of accounting systems during the formation of OBI Seafoods and has experience with mergers, acquisitions, and financial relationships.
OBI Board Co-Chairs Len Stewart and Robin Samuelson expressed gratitude to Mark Palmer and Tony Ross for their long-standing commitment to the company. They have confidence that John and Monica will continue OBI’s legacy as a leading producer of fresh, frozen, and canned Alaska seafood.
OBI Seafoods was formed in 2020 through a merger of Ocean Beauty Seafoods and Icicle Seafoods, operating ten processing plants in Alaska, focusing on salmon and groundfish.
