Adel Al-Saleh Becomes CEO at SES

Satellite firm SES has announced the appointment of Adel Al-Saleh as its Chief Executive Officer, effective from February 2024.

Ruy Pinto, who served as SES’s Chief Technology Officer from 2019 to 2023, is currently the interim CEO at SES. He will continue to lead the company through January 2024 and will remain a member of the executive team until June 2024, after which he will take on the role of strategic advisor to the CEO. Milton Torres, who succeeded Pinto as CTO on an interim basis, will continue in that capacity.

Frank Esser, Chairman of the SES Board of Directors, expressed his satisfaction with the appointment. Esser also commended Ruy Pinto for his leadership and stated that SES will continue under his direction for the remainder of the year.

Since January 2018, Al-Saleh has held the position of CEO at T-Systems International GmbH, an integrated IT services provider and subsidiary of Deutsche Telekom AG. He has also been a member of the Board of Management at Deutsche Telekom AG throughout this period. During his tenure at T-Systems, Al-Saleh led the transition from a traditional information technology and outsourcing business to an integrated IT services and digital solutions provider. He focused on driving growth initiatives to enhance operational efficiency, improve customer satisfaction, boost employee engagement, and maximize profitability.

Before joining T-Systems, Adel Al-Saleh held leadership roles in various organizations, including a nearly 20-year tenure at IBM. He has also served as the CEO of Northgate Information Solutions (NIS) Group, where he led a transformation of the company’s strategy, portfolio, and operations.

SES is a global leader in content connectivity solutions and operates the world’s only multi-orbit constellation of satellites. SES’s video network carries approximately 8,000 channels and is listed on the Paris and Luxembourg stock exchanges (Ticker: SESG).
