US regional carrier Mesa Airlines CFO Resigns

Mesa Airlines

Daniel Torque Zubeck is resigning from his position as Chief Financial Officer at US regional carrier Mesa Airlines, a role he has held for nearly two years, effective September 15th. Mesa Air Group, the parent company, announced Zubeck’s departure in a filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission on September 13th. Michael Lotz, who is currently the company’s President, will temporarily assume the role of CFO.

Mesa Air Group emphasized that Zubeck’s resignation was not due to any disagreements with the company on financial matters, internal controls, operations, policies, or practices.

Before becoming Mesa’s CFO, Zubeck served as the Senior Vice President of Finance at the company since February 2021. Prior to that, he had an extensive 18-year career with Alaska Airlines, including positions such as Director of Financial Planning and Analysis and Managing Director of Alaska Air Cargo.

Michael Lotz has been with Mesa since 2000, serving as President since then and previously holding the position of CFO from June 2008 until September 2021.

Mesa Airlines, headquartered in Phoenix, has been going through a significant transition as it ended its partnership with American Airlines in December 2022 and entered into a five-year capacity purchase agreement with United Airlines shortly thereafter. During this transition period, the regional carrier has been working to shift its Bombardier CRJ-900 aircraft to United and has ceased operating under the American Eagle brand.
