Highmark Health

Highmark Health has unveiled new leadership within its financial division, appointing Carl Daley as the Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of the organization.

In his role as CFO, Daley will lead the development, planning, and implementation of a finance strategy that aligns with Highmark Health’s long-term strategic trajectory. He will also serve as the primary intermediary with regulators and rating agencies while overseeing various divisions, including enterprise finance, tax, investment, finance innovation, and procurement. His reporting line will directly connect to Chief Executive Officer David Holmberg.

Daley’s most recent role was as Senior Vice President of Medicare Strategy and Operations at Humana, based in Louisville, KY. His extensive tenure of nearly twelve years at Humana encompassed leadership roles such as Senior Vice President and Insurance Chief Financial Officer, Enterprise Vice President and Chief Audit Officer, and Chief Financial Officer and Director of Finance for Medicare Advantage and PDP.

In his recent capacity, Daley managed clinical services vendors, Medicare supplemental benefits vendors, and trend operations, with an emphasis on driving value through medical cost management services and enhanced member outcomes.

During his tenure as Insurance CFO at Humana, overseeing all insurance lines of business, Daley managed a team of approximately 275 associates, taking charge of the controllership function, business unit CFOs, enterprise financial planning, and analysis, as well as actuarial valuation of trends and savings. Before his tenure at Humana, Daley spent ten years at PwC, serving in several leadership positions within audit and assurance services.

Daley holds a Master’s degree in Sports Management and a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from the University of Kentucky.

Janine Colinear, who has been serving as interim Chief Financial Officer for Highmark Health since January 2023, will revert to her role as Senior Vice President overseeing finance for Highmark Health, reporting directly to Daley.

Ja’Ron Bridges, who joined Highmark Health in 2017, will transition to Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Highmark Health Plans, reporting to Tom Doran, President of Highmark Health Plan.
