The Exclusive $100 Billion Club (And How They Made Their Fortune)

Elon Musk

The centibillionaires club: The CEOWORLD magazine shows that the world’s most exclusive $100 Billion Club is almost entirely an American affair. Of the ten people with a net worth of over $100 billion as of Aug. 7, 2023, nine are American. And it is no surprise that the U.S. tech billionaires dominate the global $100 billion club.

Elon Musk is the richest, with over $232 billion in wealth, followed by Bernard Arnault, Jeff Bezos, Bill Gates, and Larry Ellison.

In comparison, the global 1% are a group of around 80 million richest people, while the global 0.1% still comprises 8 million individuals – making the $100 billion club the equivalent of the global 0.0000001%.

Although Bill Gates did have a net worth of over $100 billion in 1999 for a brief period, the term centibillionaire did not gain currency until the flamboyant founder of Amazon, Jeff Bezos, increased his wealth to $112 billion in 2017. It is since then that he was referred to as the world’s first centibillionaire.

While 2023 is a good year for the rich, the world’s ten wealthiest people add more than $414 billion to their combined fortunes. Here’s everyone who is a member of the exclusive $100 billion club.
