Mykonos Island – Greece: Why Is It So Popular All Over The World?
Mykonos island in the Cyclades in Greece is known all over the world. It is like saying Ibiza or Maldives. The international elite arrives here every summer to spend some days gazing at the Aegean Sea and enjoying some of the most magnificent nights. The visitors are mainly from the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, and the USA. Thousands of tourists are charmed by the island’s natural beauty, the small white houses, the beaches, and the nightlife flocking every summer. Mykonos nightlife is known all over the world. Only if someone visits the island can understand this. I don’t think anyone could have imagined some years ago that nowadays, Mykonos would be a place of significant wealth, luxury, and famous personalities.
Mykonos made an early start in order to change and attract tourists before other Greek islands. Approaching the island, you will see the four multi-photographed windmills, while some other places worth visiting are the church of Panagia Paraportiani, located in the center, the Armenistis lighthouse that was built in 1891 on the northern coast, the Little Venice (miniature of Venice in Italy), and the archeological museum, one of the oldest in Greece. The island has a lot of beautiful beaches, such as Psarrou, Ornos, Kalafati, Saint Stefanos, Platis Gialos, and Ano Mera. The beach clubs JackieO’, Nammos, and Scorpios are three of the most popular on the island.
International celebrities and successful businessmen from all over the world visit the island every summer. The financial affluence of its visitors is shown by the luxury private yachts that arrive and also the private helicopters that they use for their transfers. On the island, some of the most significant villas are offered at a high price for the stay of famous visitors. Elon Musk, the Egyptian tycoon Naguib Sawiris, Paul McCartney, the rich American heiress Ariana Rockefeller, the star of the “big screen” James Franco, Kate Moss, as well as many famous football players have chosen this summer Mykonos for their vacation while it is said that also Indian businessman Lakshmi Mittal is expected to spend some days in the island.
Ultra-luxurious hotels have been built on the island for the last years for millions of euros. Kenshō Ornos opened in 2016 and is really popular among visitors. At the same time, the five-star Kenshō Psarou was acquired by the Arabian company Monterock International for €19 million and changed its name to «N Hotel Mykonos.»
One of the most beautiful boutique hotels in Mykonos, Mykonos Gem, is located in the Chora in Matoyiannia and is housed in an old mansion. Amenities include Bulgari products in every suite. With its impressive infinity pool, Cavo Tagoo hotel is in great demand. Mykonos Lolita is a new entry into the island’s hotel industry in Agios Sostis. It offers independent villas and a private beach. Also, Mykonos Blu Grecotel Boutique Resort includes 103 luxurious bungalows, suites, and villas.
Lastly, at Aleomandra is the newly constructed Kalesma Mykonos, a luxurious boutique hotel with suites and villas with a private pool. The well-known Italian restaurant Ceresio7 of Dsquared2 and the architectural firm Storage Associati Milano are in Mykonos. It is located in a historic building. Also, there is the legendary Billionaire by Flavio Briatore, the French Bagatelle, the Spanish Ftelia by Pacha, and more.
