5 Steps to Promote Yourself

We live in a society where looks are important, and this does not only have to do with your body and face but also your image. Who you are and who people think you are two completely different things. To promote yourself, you do not have to lie about who you are; you just have to focus on the positives and try not to let the negatives come out. Today, we will discuss the five simple rules governing the promotion world.

  1. First impression
The first impression of people that have not met before is crucial. Psychiatrists claim that 90% of our impression of someone is formed between the first 90 minutes of our interaction. So, how is a good first impression defined? To start with, take care of the clothes and accessories you carry around. They do not necessarily have to be expensive, but they will certainly have to be clean and relatively new. If you are about to attend a certain occasion, it is better to get dressed according to it, and why not take the advice of a professional? Otherwise, a simple diverse choice will be fantastic. When it comes to you, remember that it is all about smiles. We tend to think that women have to smile more or that men should be serious, at least when beautiful women do not surround them; however, this is so not the case. Smiling is a plus, and this is a rule that applies everywhere.
  2. Use the right words
In a previous article, we have referred to what people to say when they want to make a good impression. Briefly, the idea is to focus on the positives of your personality, accomplishments, and the exciting way you enjoy life. Last but not least, do not forget to mention how you have helped people or a friend in some situations that will also make you look good and generous.
  3. Use your friends’ help
If you have the time to prepare yourself and are aware of the situation you will have to face, it is a good idea to ask your friends to help. Ask them to talk you up in the new company and describe your awesome personality. It is also possible to have them pretend they accidentally met with you at that particular gathering, and they just cannot forget how valuable your help was for them in the past. Regardless of how you will decide to use them, make sure you do it discretely so that others will not understand this was preplanned.
  4. Make them feel good
Apart from talking about yourself, keep in mind that you are a company member. It is funny, but we usually struggle to make ourselves look good. In contrast, it is actually others that have to feel that way. If you think about it, all of the members in the group feel the same way. They all want to prove something and feel they must impress. Creating a good impression is not about making them like you but about you making them feel that you like them. In other words, make them feel accepted, and they will love you. Focusing on the other side is a good step toward creating a communication bridge. But this works both ways since it also allows us to get rid of the stress when all the lights are on us.
  5. Pay attention to their relationships
At this point, you will have to consider your skills as an observer and mainly have to look at two things. The first one is who each one of the people in your company is. The second part is related to how these people are connected. Are they related? Are they partners? Are they just friends? And, of course, how do they feel in this relationship? Do they like each other? Do they share a feeling of admiration? Are their feelings and opinions mutual? All this information will prove useful to help you understand where you should stand in this situation. Perhaps they have issues with each other, but at the same time, they love each other. In this case, they will probably not want you to show that you realized their troubles. The first thing, either way, is to understand what happens in order to be discrete if you need to.
