With a fortune of over $24.5 billion, Vladimir O. Potanin, president of metals giant Norilsk Nickel and its biggest shareholder, is the richest person in Russia, an analysis of the Bloomberg Billionaires Index shows. Norilsk Nickel accounts for about 40% of global palladium output, as well as roughly 10% of platinum and refined nickel. It also produces 3% of the world’s cobalt supply. Behind Vladimir Potanin is Leonid Mikhelson, with an estimated net worth of $21.4 billion, followed by Alexey Mordashov (No. 3, $21.3 billion); and Andrey Melnichenko (No. 4, $19.7 billion).
