As of March 16, 2022, with a net worth of roughly $207 billion, Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla Inc. (TSLA) and the founder and CEO of SpaceX, is the wealthiest person in the world. Behind Musk is the founder of Amazon, Jeff Bezos, with an estimated net worth of $172 billion, followed by Bernard Arnault (No. 3, $135 billion); and Bill Gates (No. 4, $126 billion).

Top billionaires: who is the richest person in the world?

The list of the world’s wealthiest people can vary from day to day, depending on their latest net worth and financial performance. Seven of the top 10 billionaires made their fortunes in technology, with Bernard Arnault, Berkshire Hathaway’s Warren Buffett, and Reliance Industries founder Mukesh Ambani the exceptions.

Warren Buffett is the fifth-wealthiest person in the world, with $120 billion. Larry Page ranked 6th with a personal wealth of $116 billion, followed by Sergey Brin with $111 billion. Steve Ballmer is placed 8th with a net worth of $104 billion. Larry Ellison ($97.7 billion) occupied the 9th position on the top 10 richest people in the world list, followed by Mukesh Ambani (No. 10, $87.7 billion).
