Best Colleges In Taiwan For Civil Engineering, 2021

Taiwan has a reputed higher education system. The government has made many of the degree programs available in English to get more international students into Taiwanese universities.

The locals are friendly and will help you heartily whenever needed. You can live among skyscrapers and explore ancient temples and the natural landscape when time allows. And you also get to relish flavorsome Chinese cuisine every now and then.

The best colleges in Taiwan for civil engineering are:

  1. National Taipei University of Technology (NTUT)
The Civil Engineering faculty offers bachelors, masters, and Ph.D. degree programs that are IEET accredited. All these courses are offered in Chinese as well as English.
The faculty always strives to maintain its standards of research and teaching. The faculty members have made significant contributions to world-renowned research. You can join their work and pursue an advanced degree by approaching them directly for the same.
The undergraduate course provides you with a strong base on which you can build a successful career. The masters program is application-oriented and builds on the base strengthened in the undergraduate program. You get to do collaborative studies with teams from other disciplines as part of the research.
The Ph.D. gives you the right platform to make you adept and to develop the ability to contribute to the knowledge to the field of Civil Engineering. As an international student, you may receive some scholarships from the Taiwan (ROC) government. This scholarship covers one year of the language school that you can attend before entering university.
  2. National Taiwan University of Science and Technology (Taiwan Tech)
Taiwan Tech has been offering civil and construction engineering programs since 1975. All of their undergraduate and graduate degree programs are recognized in many countries as they are IEET accredited. Taiwan Tech started the intake of international students in 2005, becoming among the first Taiwanese universities to do so.
While the faculty is brilliant at teaching theory, it also encourages you to be innovative. That way, you will also develop the practical skills required to succeed in the real world. You will be able to see the global perspective during your time there. So, the department aims to arm you with all the professional skills you will need in construction engineering and construction management work.
Taiwan Tech has also signed a strategic partnership with Kyoto University to develop collaboration in international research in several disciplines. Most of the faculty members have Ph.D. degrees from foreign universities.
  3. National Cheng Kung University (NCKU)
The Department of Civil Engineering only offered undergraduate courses when it was founded in 1943. The Masters and Doctoral degree programs were started in 1959 and 1971, respectively. It is proud to have about 8,000 of its graduates serving in academic institutions, organizations, and research institutes in Taiwan and abroad.
It aims to make you a well-rounded civil engineer that is academically bright and practically proficient. The undergraduate program does this by teaching you the basics and improving your expertise in doing analyses, designs, and experiments.
The faculty helps local students improve their English skills by making them interact with international students. The department has all the equipment and facilities to help you get the most out of the program. You can benefit from the Taiwan ICDF Higher Education Scholarship Programs as well.
  4. National Taiwan University (NTU)
NTU’s Civil Engineering faculty (NTUCE) equips you with the essential skills to build a prosperous career in the complex and ever-evolving world. The programs are designed to help you become proficient in theory and to also gain practical experience.
NTUCE helps you get a solid foundation of the fundamentals of civil engineering. On top of that, it prioritizes enhancing your leadership abilities, project execution capabilities, ability to conduct research, and to infuse upon you the spirit of public service.
NTUCE has liaisons with the local academic institutions, government, and industries to promote collaboration. It also has affiliations with several international universities in Asia, Oceania, Europe, and America. Discussing civil engineering updates, connecting with foreign markets, and student exchange programs are beneficial for them all.

Scholarships are available for international students, academically excellent students, and students in need of financial assistance. You can pursue the courses in English in case you aren’t proficient in Chinese.
