Countries with the most generous maternity leave policies in the world, 2020
Some of the richest countries in the world provide little or no government-supported paid maternity leave, according to an analysis of maternity leave in 42 high and middle-income countries across the OECD and European Union.
Estonia was found to be the most generous of the countries listed, offering women 166 weeks’ paid maternity leave after having a baby, followed by Slovak Republic (164 weeks) and Finland (160.5 weeks). The 2020 rankings placed Hungary in fourth ahead of Bulgaria (110.5 weeks) into fifth; while Romania (108.7 weeks) ranked sixth, and Latvia seventh (94 weeks). And the lowest ranking ones…

Meanwhile, the least generous member of the OECD, a group of industrialized nations, is the United States, which does not guarantee women any paid maternity leave.
Also near the bottom of the heap are Mexico and Switzerland, where women get 12 and 14 weeks of paid maternity leave, respectively.
