From Mississippi to Ecom CEO: The Story of Reco Jefferson

Reco Jefferson

Early Days and a Love for Learning: Reco Jefferson was born on September 8, 1986, in Mississippi. He didn’t grow up with much money, but he grew up with something just as important—curiosity.

“I always knew that if I wanted to change my life, I had to learn,” Reco says. “So I read everything I could get my hands on—especially books about tech and engineering.”

In high school, he moved to the Philadelphia area. It was a big change, but it became home. He kept his focus on learning, building, and growing. It didn’t take long before cars became one of his main interests.

“I loved working on cars,” he says. “Taking things apart, figuring them out, and making them better—it taught me how to think.”

Fast Cars and Tough Lessons: Reco wasn’t just a car lover. He also enjoyed racing—both on the track and in the streets.

“It was fun. Too fun, maybe,” he admits. “But it helped me see that I needed more structure in my life.”

That realization led him to join the U.S. Air Force. The military gave him discipline, routine, and direction.

“I learned how to stay focused,” Reco says. “It helped me build the mindset I needed to succeed later in life.”

After his service, he enrolled at Penn State University and earned his degree. That education, along with his background in tech, opened the next chapter of his life.

Software to CEO: Reco began his career as a software engineer. It was a natural fit for someone who had spent years learning about technology on his own.

“I liked solving problems,” he says. “That’s what software is all about.”

But he wanted more than a job. He wanted to build something. So he started his own company—Roughnecks Ecom—an e-commerce business focused on using automation and tech to drive results.

“I didn’t start out thinking I’d be a CEO,” Reco says. “I just wanted to create something that worked better.”

His company grew, and so did his role. Today, he leads a team, drives strategy, and stays focused on what’s next in tech and AI.

Cars, Racing, and Road Time: Even with a busy career, Reco still finds time for the things he loves.

“I race with the Sports Car Club of America,” he says. “Road racing keeps me sharp. It’s technical, fast, and focused—kind of like running a company.”

He also follows Formula 1 closely.

“I always dreamed of being an F1 driver,” he says. “That ship has sailed, but the passion is still there.”

Movies, Travel, and Popcorn: When Reco isn’t working or racing, he’s likely at the movies.

“I’m big on horror and action,” he says. “And yeah, I’ve got a thing for movie popcorn. It’s a ritual at this point.”

He’s also started to travel more recently.

“I don’t really plan trips with a list,” he explains. “I just find a place that seems cool and go. It helps me see things differently.”

Giving Back and Looking Ahead: Living in Philadelphia has shaped Reco’s view of community. He knows not every kid gets a fair shot—especially when it comes to school.

“I try to talk to kids in the city whenever I can,” Reco says. “The school system here is rough, and I want to help change that.”

His dream is to open a school one day. One that gives young people the tools they need to succeed.

“I didn’t have much growing up, but I had access to knowledge. That’s what I want to give back.”

Lessons from Reco: Reco Jefferson’s story is about making the most of what you have. It’s about staying curious, working hard, and learning every step of the way.

He’s the kind of person who doesn’t talk about success much. He talks about the process. The daily effort. The next idea.

“I never feel like I’ve made it,” he says. “There’s always more to learn, more to build, and more to give.”

Whether it’s tech, racing, or mentoring, Reco keeps pushing forward. Not for fame. Not for status. But because he believes in better—better systems, better tools, better chances for the next generation.

And that’s a story worth following.
