Hellmann Worldwide Logistics Names Lee I’Ons as Regional CEO for IMEA

Hellmann Worldwide Logistics has appointed Lee I’Ons as the new Regional CEO for the IMEA region and a member of the International Executive Board, effective April 1, 2025. He takes over from Madhav Kurup, who has successfully led the region since 2008 and was recently promoted to the Global Management Board as Chief Operating Officer for Airfreight, Seafreight, and Contract Logistics.

A native of South Africa, I’Ons brings three decades of experience in the logistics industry, with a career spanning Asia, the Middle East, and Africa. He started his professional journey at a shipping agency in Durban before joining Kühne+Nagel, where he spent 26 years in senior roles, including National Manager for the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and President of the Middle East and Africa.

At Hellmann, I’Ons will focus on driving growth within the IMEA region by leveraging his deep understanding of its markets, people, and economic landscape. Working closely with his team, he aims to build on the region’s recent strong performance. Currently home to 2,000 employees across 14 countries and six vertical joint ventures, the IMEA region remains a key growth driver for the company, encompassing high-potential markets such as India, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE, as well as emerging opportunities across Africa.

Jens Drewes, CEO of Hellmann Worldwide Logistics, emphasized the strategic importance of the EMEA region, describing it as a hub of innovation and expansion for the company. He noted that while Hellmann has already established a strong market presence in sectors such as Automotive and Pharma, I’Ons’ leadership would be instrumental in advancing the foundation laid by Kurup and his team.

Reflecting on his tenure, Kurup described his leadership of the IMEA region as a privilege and expressed gratitude for working with a highly skilled team. He conveyed confidence that under I’Ons’ guidance, Hellmann would continue to innovate and expand its presence in the region. In his new role on the Global Management Board, he looked forward to supporting the company’s ongoing success.
