On a regional scale, Barisal division records the highest poverty rate at 26.6%, while Chittagong reports the lowest at 15.2%. Among districts, Madaripur emerges as the most affected, with 54.4% of its population living below the poverty line. In contrast, Noakhali ranks as the wealthiest district, with a poverty rate of just 6.1%.
At the upazila level, Dasar in Madaripur registers the highest poverty rate, with a staggering 63% of its residents living in poverty.
The report paints a stark picture of Bangladesh’s economic landscape, emphasizing the pressing need for targeted measures to bridge the gap between the country’s wealthiest and most impoverished areas.
